Recovery Coaching Academy
Doc’s Recovery House offers a quarterly Recovery Coaching Academy for individuals interested in learning more about becoming a peer recovery specialist, or those who are allies of recovery and interested in the training.
Doc’s Recovery House teaches the 46-hour CCAR curriculum, Recovery Coach Academy and Ethical Considerations, including 30 hours of recovery coach academy training and 16 hours of ethics required by the State of Minnesota.
What is a Peer Recovery Specialist?
A Peer Recovery Specialist (also called Recovery Coach), promotes recovery and removes barriers and obstacles to recovery, serving as a personal guide and mentor for people seeking or already in recovery from an addiction to alcohol and or other drugs. What distinguishes a coach from other peer positions is that we stay in the lane of providing support for people in recovery from an addition to alcohol and or other drugs. (CCAR)
Notice to all Applicants
The Recovery Coaching Academy is a certified training course that provides the required 46-hour training curriculum for individuals to become certified as Peer Recovery Specialists in Minnesota. The class is designed to train the supportive profession of peer support specialists, and honors the lived experience in recovery through the course. All individuals regardless of recovery status are welcome to attend, however emphasis will be placed on training required for state certification.
We will cover more about the recovery movement and the importance of this distinction, and the importance and differences of peer support during the class.
