Community Training Offerings

About the Training Center
As a Recovery Community Organization, one of the key pillars of Doc’s Recovery House is community education and public advocacy. Thanks to funding from generous grant makers, we launched our Training Center in 2020 and have continued to grow offerings to educate the public, and the recovery community, on various areas related to substance use, recovery, mental health or community safety and preparedness.

Trainings We Offer
In addition to our Recovery Coach Academy, Doc’s Recovery House offers four additional trainings - CPR / First Aid, Mental Health First Aid, Naloxone Training and Continuing Education for Peer Specialists. Learn about each training below, and if you’re interested, please submit the interest form with your information and someone from our team will reach out with next steps.

Note: We have a full page dedicated to our Recovery Coach Academy. If you are interested in becoming a peer recovery specialist or recovery coach, please visit this page to learn more.

  • Doc’s Recovery House is launching a Community of Practice (CoP) for Peer Recovery Specialists in Southeast Minnesota and beyond to grow, connect and learn alongside one another. The CoP will be structured as a monthly lunch-and-learn series, offering a 2-hour educational session with lunch and offered CEUs.

Topics will include: Ethics & ethical decision-making, motivational interviewing practice, community trends, local resource mapping, other topics as requested by attendees and participants.

Schedule: We offer a continuing education lunch-and-learn community of practice on a monthly basis. View the schedule here to sign-up.

    Training Length: 2 hours

  • Doc's Recovery House is a Naloxone Access Point (NAP) in partnership with the Steve Rummler HOPE Network. We provide a Naloxone Training to help equip individuals to respond in the event of an overdose, and provide Narcan, an overdose reversal drug and life-saving medication. This training is offered at Doc's Recovery House on a regular basis, but can also be provided as a custom training in your organization or workplace.

    Training Length: 1 hour

  • The Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training teaches participants to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health challenges. This course provides practical skills to support someone experiencing a mental health crisis, reduce stigma, and connect individuals with appropriate resources. After completing this course, attendees will receive Mental Health First Aid Certification from the National Council for Mental Wellbeing.

    Training Length: 6-8 hours

  • The CPR/First Aid training will equip attendees to perform CPR and provide first aid for common emergencies. This training will also bolster opioid preparedness and enhance a participant’s ability to respond to a crisis situation, as delivering rescue breaths with Narcan administration is the most effective life-saving measure in the event of an overdose. After completing this course, attendees will receive formal certification for CPR/First Aid from the American Red Cross.

    Training Length: 4-6 hours
